Requirements
Transporting high-value goods in crates
Wooden crates are the usual packaging for heavy or especially valuable single items: tools, aerospace parts, systems for export. For transport, dimensions, weight, skids and clear labelling matter.
What matters
- Skids
- Crates with skids can be picked up with a forklift or pallet truck.
- Centre of gravity
- A centre-of-gravity marking shows where the forks should go.
- Labelling
- Up arrows, weight, lifting points and sensitivities visible on the outside.
- Handed over closed
- Crates stay closed; the outer condition is checked.
Planning questions
We clarify these points before quoting – the earlier they are known, the more precise the plan.
- How many crates, with what dimensions and weights?
- Do the crates have skids?
- Are centre of gravity and lifting points marked?
- Is the crate built for export (treated wood)?
- Who picks up the crates at destination?

Questions and answers: Crated goods
Why should crates have skids?
So that forklifts and pallet trucks can pick them up safely without tilting the crate.
Does Logisticoo open crates at takeover?
No. We check the outer condition; the contents stay closed.
Which crate details do you need?
Dimensions, weight, centre of gravity and lifting points. With these we plan vehicle, handling equipment and securing – your crate builder can supply them directly.
