Requirements
Transporting bulky high-value goods
Some high-value goods are large: test benches, control cabinets, large displays, lab automation systems. They do not fit into every van, need loading aids and a path to the handover point that is wide and high enough.
What matters
- Dimensions and centre of gravity
- Length, width, height, weight and centre of gravity determine vehicle and loading aids.
- Choice of vehicle
- Load space height, tail lift and lashing points to suit the goods.
- Access
- Measure doors, corridors, lifts and ramps up to the handover point.
- Staff
- Plan more hands or equipment at destination for bulky packages.
Planning questions
We clarify these points before quoting – the earlier they are known, the more precise the plan.
- What are the dimensions and weight of the largest part?
- Where is the centre of gravity?
- Is there a dock, forklift or tail lift?
- How wide are doors and lifts at destination?
- Are the goods also sensitive?
