High-value transport to Italy

Every road route to Italy crosses the Alps – through Austria or Switzerland. Destinations are often machine-building, tooling and medical technology sites in northern Italy. For sensitive goods, season, transit country and driving bans matter.

What matters

Alpine crossing
Route via Austria or Switzerland; Switzerland involves transit formalities.
Season
Summer heat in the vehicle and winter cold on passes affect temperature-sensitive goods.
Driving bans
Italy has truck driving bans at weekends and on holidays – we plan for them.
Destinations
Industrial areas in northern Italy with their own delivery times.

Planning questions

We clarify these points before quoting – the earlier they are known, the more precise the plan.

  1. Where in Italy?
  2. Are the goods temperature-sensitive?
  3. Are there dates on weekends or holidays?
  4. Who takes over at destination?
  5. Should direct transport be planned?

Questions and answers: Italy

Does a transport to Italy need customs papers?

Not for intra-EU transport. A route through Switzerland does involve transit formalities, however.

Which route across the Alps is taken?

Via Austria or Switzerland – depending on destination, goods and formalities. We decide per consignment.

What should be considered in summer heat?

Temperature-sensitive goods should not have long standing times. We plan without avoidable stops.
